About the “Journey to Japan” Program:
“Journey to Japan” is an immersive exploration of Japanese artistry and musical traditions designed for students in grade K-5 across New York City. This series provides dynamic, multi-disciplinary cultural workshops and performances, offering hands-on sessions with taiko drumming and artist-led workshops.
Job Description:
We are seeking a creative and dynamic individual to join our team as an instructor for the “Journey to Japan” program. The ideal candidate should have a passion for Japanese art and music and be adept at engaging students in a group class setting.

Location: 1950 Sedgwick Avenue, Bronx, NY 10453
Grade Level: 3rd Grade
Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am

Ikebana Floral Design

Japanese Calligraphy
Japanese Songs
Japanese Art
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver interactive and engaging lessons in Ikebana Floral Design, Origami, Japanese Calligraphy, Japanese Songs, and Japanese Art for 3rd-grade students.
Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and exploration of Japanese cultural traditions.
Collaborate with fellow instructors to enhance the overall program experience.
Incorporate hands-on activities and artist-led workshops to make learning both educational and enjoyable.
Assess and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Requirements:
Demonstrated expertise and passion for Japanese art and music.
Previous experience in teaching or facilitating group classes, preferably in an elementary school setting.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to inspire creativity and curiosity in students.
