Midori & Friends at NYC Council Press Junket Announcing Increased Arts Funding!

We’re thrilled to share that Midori & Friends was prominently featured at a recent press conference outside P.S. 38 in Manhattan, where the NYC Council announced a significant $1 million increase to the “Support for Arts Instruction” initiative, bringing the total funding to $4 million for arts programming in public schools.

Midori & Friends was invited to speak at this important event alongside Council Members Justin Brannan and Carlina Rivera, the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable, and fellow arts organizations.  I was quoted in the press coverage, highlighting how “access to quality arts programming transforms young lives” and emphasizing our shared commitment to ensuring every child has access to the arts “regardless of background or circumstance.”

This initiative currently supports 239 schools, with each receiving $16,527. P.S. 38M, one of our partner schools, was specifically mentioned as a beneficiary. A recent report showed that 99% of participating schools reported significant improvements in student achievement, mental health, and community engagement thanks to this program.
