Classically-trained singer/actor Jason Poole studied the folk art and culture of Hawai’i for many years under a revered Hawaiian kumu (master teacher) on the island of Molokai. As a Hawaiian cultural teacher and musician, Jason shares the stories and songs from America’s 50th state with people around the world. In his participatory workshops and concerts, Jason shares stories and songs, accompanying himself on the ‘ukulele, as children join him in singing and learning the physical movements that accompany his stories. For some workshops, Jason teaches basic ‘ukulele skills as the students strum and sing traditional Hawaiian folk songs. For special performances, he is joined by a professional hula dancer. Together, they perform and share traditional songs and hula dance movements. Grades K– 5.
